Short account of history of 19th and 20th painting

"Modern painting is a vibration of color perceived while in a special frame of mind" Oscar Ghiglia

Many great artists, in both Italy and France, were born in the second half of the 19th Century. Their way of perceiving reality changed the direction of painting forever. These artists reached a point of no return beyond which lay modern painting. This historical transformation radically altered previous styles. The teachings of canonical art schools were turned upside down: the study of reality, the subject matter of paintings, and painting techniques were changed forever. As our geographical focus and our specific field of study and research, we have chosen the Tuscany of this important period, a land certainly favored by the muse of Art.
